Tierra Verde Golf Club Renovation
Last Call Before This Fall!
Arlington’s Tierra Verde Golf Club, consistently voted one of the top public golf courses in DFW by Avid Golfer Magazine, will undergo a complete bunker renovation and greens resurfacing that will commence on July 3.
The greens will be expanded and restored to the original design of course architect Gary Stephenson (Graham & Panks International) from when the course opened in 1998. Tierra Verde will also transition to Champion Dwarf Bermudagrass for the putting surfaces, from the current TifEagle Bermuda greens. The first week after closing will be used to prep the surfaces for the new grass, which will include the Champion “no till” method. Green sprigs are planned to be planted on July 11.
During the closure, Tierra Verde will also undergo a complete bunker renovation. The bunkers will be re-built using the Better Billy Bunker method which eliminates the traditional cloth geo-textile liner and replaces it with a sprayed-on polymer sub-surface. As a result, the new method results in better playing conditions and reduced maintenance following heavy rainfall. All existing sand in the bunkers will be removed and replaced with new sand to provide better playability and aesthetics as well.
The golf course and practice facilities will close beginning Sunday, July 3. The driving range is scheduled to re-open in mid-August, while the course is slated to re-open on October 1st. During the closure, the Golf Shop will be open from 8:00am-5:00pm daily. Ventana Grille, located in the Tierra Verde clubhouse, will remain open daily for lunch and dinner service.
Golfers are encouraged to visit Texas Rangers Golf Club, Lake Arlington Golf Course, or Meadowbrook Park Golf Course during the closure. For tee times, click here.
